Sweet Home Alabama
Have you seen such a funny and interesting film as “Sweet Home Alabama”? If you don’t remember, let’s remind. The main parts were played by Reese Witherspoon as Melanie, Josh Lucas as Jake, Patrick Dempsey as Andrew and others. This film was released in 2002 and became very popular.
The plot of the film is the following. Melanie left her native city Alabama five years ago and moved to New York. She became popular fashion designer, achieved success and she has perfect boyfriend Andrew, who is New York City’s Mayor. When Andrew makes Melanie a proposition, she says that she has to go home in order to inform her parents about such event in her life and she wants to do it alone. In fact Melanie can’t get married, because she is already married with Jake, her first love from childhood. Five years ago she left Jake and sent him papers for divorce which he didn’t sign. So, she came back home, met with her parents, her old friend and of course with Jake. At the beginning they can’t find common language, remember old offences, but then came to conclusion that their live is still alive. And when it is time to marry with Andrew, Melanie realizes that she still loves Jake and she goes to him. At the end of the film, there is a bright celebration of reunion of Melanie and Jake.
Except the story of Melanie and Jake, there are also a lot of scenes of Alabama and its citizens which are also interesting to see. With help of Mayor of New York it is described the attitude of city people to provincial citizen. But this film also shows that in spite of all difficulties, it is not necessary to shy your provincial roots and use this fact for help.
